In Section V upstate New York action, the Avon Braves travel to take on the Holley Hawks. Both programs emphasize physical, line-of-scrimmage football suited for late-season weather. Avon relies on downhill rushing out of Power-I and double-tight end sets. The Braves prioritize ball security, using trap blocks and pulling guards to wear down opposing defensive lines and control the tempo.
Holley counters with an open spread-pistol offense, utilizing lateral zone-blocking schemes to force linebackers to flow toward the sideline before ball carriers cut back against the grain. Defensively, Holley runs a 4-4 alignment, dropping their strong safety into the box to form an eight-man front against Avon’s rushing attack.
Kickoff: Friday, Sept 11, 2026 (7:00 PM EDT)

The Trench Warfare and Cutback Lanes
Avon’s center and guards must win leverage battles against Holley’s interior tackles to consistently generate 3-to-4 yards on early downs. Defensively, Avon’s inside linebackers must maintain gap discipline against Holley’s zone run game; over-pursuing laterally creates cutback alleys that the Hawks can turn into chunk yardage.
